About Me

Over the past 25 years, I have been involved with Essex Junction as a member of the volunteer/paid call fire department. These years have afforded me the opportunity to meet so many of you whether it be from the department’s open house, Halloween candy handouts, or more recently with the addition of our candy cane event around the holidays.

I have lived in Essex Junction since 1997, settling in my current residence in 2004. I spent many years working for, and then operating, a small business in Chittenden County before opting for a career change that afforded me more time with my family.

I have always loved Essex Junction. The people are what make this city so great. However, there are enormous pressures on our tax base. Year after year, large tax increases are forcing many families to make complicated choices. The looming reappraisal, and many unfunded projects potentially on the horizon, just stand to complicate our issues.

I promise a balanced and thoughtful approach, weighing costs with necessity, so that we may afford our path forward in a more responsible and responsive manner

My Platform

Important Issues

Taxes

A thorough and thoughtful approach on how the city collects and spends its revenue.

Allocating Funds

Based on the net increase of this year's taxes, I would like to get into the operational budgets of each department to identify savings from duplication of services or other areas where ineffiencies exist.

Equality/LGBTQIA+

It is the job of government to plow your roads, clear your sidewalks, and stamp out hate. I will use the rights and resources of the city to foster a community welcoming to all. Looking ahead, I am a proponent of ward voting to ensure the City Council will be a reprensentation of the entire city.

Local Resources

I believe it is important to acknowledge that our departments operate at a high level and I am not looking to reduce those services, but we cannot continue to seek large increases of funds without expansion of our revenue base as our tax payers are already feeling the burden post separation.

Road Ahead

It is no secret that some of our facilities have outlived their lifespan. In the near future we are going to have to have a conversation as a community on how to fund a new public works facility, along with the potential for a new fire station. The time to look for new areas of revenue is now to lessen the potential for a long term bond.
